How come you always only find things at the last place you were looking?

Because once you found the item, THAT was the last place you looked. How many people do you know will continue to look for items in other places once they've found them ? And to quote a question from last night's Sopranos episode: what were the odds for Lou Gehrig to die of Lou Gehrig's disease ?
